July was full of graduation parties here in the Colonia Hidalgo. I had the privilege of witnessing two of our girls graduate from High School! Maria Luisa Cumplido Flores (we call her Lu) and Francisca Cervantes Reyes (we call her Francis) finished strong. I had mixed feelings since I was very happy for them, however, I knew we would soon say goodbye. Lu has been with me for 4 years and Francis for 3 years. I have become accustomed to their presence in my home. I came to know them in their strong moments and in the weak ones. I walked them through their difficulties as they learned Spanish and English. I saw how God changed them as they grew to know more of Him. The good news is that Francis will be training to be a teacher and Lu will be returning to us! She is taking some courses as she waits for registration to begin at the Army Nursing school that will begin in December.
Sarahi, one of our other girls, decided to get married and raise a family. She did not return to finish High School. She was with me for 5 years. I pray that everything that she learned here will give forth fruit in the future in it’s own time. The seed of God’s word was sowed and I know that it does not return void.

We have begun a new school year and I have 8 young girls with me. We have a full house! Karina is 10 years and is in 6th grade. Fabiola and Esther are in 8th grade. Flor and Nicolasa (they are both new) are in 7th grade. Brenda and Adela are the “seniors” of the group as they continue in High School Lu is taking computer courses as well as english courses. My home was empty for a whole month and after several weeks of silence, it was once again filled with bustle, happiness, books, uniforms, lunches, etc. I can see the hand of God in each one of them and God gives me the opportunity to sow into them the Word of God and the dream of a different and better life. As a quick example of this, Nicolasa’s mother came to visit her and I was surprise to learn that this young woman was only 25 years old. Nico is 13 years old. Do the math. This woman had Nico at 12 years of age! This cycle of children having children is exactly what I am attempting to break, with your help.
Thank you for being a part of our vision. We continue to ask for your prayers so that we may be able to provide these young girls what is necessary to move forward in their lives. You make the difference!
